Cognizant, the New Jersey-based digital transformation consulting firm, has agreed to acquire SaaSfocus to expand its Salesforce consulting capabilities.
While financial details were not disclosed, the company expects the transaction to close before the end of 2018.
Cognizant is a Salesforce Global Strategic Partner, maintaining Salesforce certification on many of its consultants for completing complex global digital transformation projects. With the acquisition of SaaSfocus, one of the APAC’s largest independent Salesforce Platinum partners, Cognizant will gain an additional 350 consultants, as well as SaaSfocus customers and partners throughout the region.
SaaSfocus will bring additional cloud consulting capabilities to the Cognizant portfolio, expanding the company’s reach in Australian and Indian finance, insurance, manufacturing and automotive industries.
Jayaiyoti Sengupta, Head of APAC at Cognizant, noted that the acquisition of SaaSfocus will improve services for Cognizant clients throughout the region, particularly in Australia and India.

Earlier this month, Cognizant announced a plan to cut jobs at the senior level, intended to make more room for junior associates to take leadership positions. While the total number of jobs expected to be cut should not exceed 200, severance costs are expected to reach $35 million by the end of the year.
The company had already cut 4,000 jobs in 2017, including 400 senior management positions that were cleared through voluntary retirement. This move led to a filing against the company in the Chennai labor courts, who denied an appeal and advised disgruntled employees to meet directly with Cognizant to find an amicable solution.
